At Rahman Law PLLC, we offer a range of immigration legal services, focusing on humanitarian and family-based cases. Below is an overview of the key services we provide. Not sure which category fits your situation? Don’t worry – give us a call and we’ll discuss your circumstances to find the best path forward. Our goal is to match you with the solution that best achieves your immigration goals.
(Green Cards for Abused Spouses, Parents, and Children)
We help immigrants who have suffered abuse or extreme cruelty at the hands of U.S. citizen or permanent resident family members. Under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), you may self-petition for a green card on your own, without having to leave the United States, even if you entered the country without permission, regardless of your gender. This applies to spouses (including divorced spouses) of abusive U.S. citizens or residents, as well as parents abused by U.S. citizen adult children, and children abused by U.S. citizen or resident parents. Our firm has extensive experience guiding survivors through the VAWA process with compassion and confidentiality. We will help you prepare the strongest possible VAWA case – securing safety, work authorization, and eventual permanent residence for you and your derivative children. (See our VAWA FAQs for more information.)
(Permanent Residency for Conditional Residents)
If you received a 2-year conditional green card through marriage, you’ll need to file an I-751 petition to remove conditions and obtain your 10-year green card. We assist with all types of I-751 filings: from happily married couples filing jointly, to individuals who need a waiver because of divorce or spousal abuse. This stage is critical – a denied I-751 can lead to loss of status and removal (deportation). Our team will ensure you meet the deadlines, compile robust evidence of your marriage’s legitimacy, and handle any complications (like an uncooperative spouse or a pending divorce). We have a strong track record in I-751 waiver cases, helping clients retain their residency even when their marriage didn’t work out. Don’t take chances with your future – we’ll stand by you through the removal of conditions process to secure your Permanent Resident green card. (For common questions, read our I-751 FAQs.)
Family unity is at the heart of U.S. immigration. We represent clients in certain types of family petitions. Our firm is well-versed in overcoming hurdles and handling complex immigration cases. With our guidance, a process that can feel overwhelming becomes manageable. We treat your family like our own and work diligently to reunite with loved ones. (Curious about timelines or eligibility? See Family-Based FAQs for more.)
A T Visa allows victims of labor trafficking to remain in the U.S., obtain work permits, and ultimately apply for green cards. Labor trafficking happens when people are forced into working under abusive or exploitative conditions, mistreated or threatened at their workplace, or denied fair wages and basic freedoms. Obtaining a T Visa can be life-changing – providing safety, stability, and a path to rebuild. We have successfully secured T visas (and subsequent green cards) for clients who thought they had no way out of their situation. With empathy and expertise, we stand with you against those who exploited you. (Learn more in our T Visa FAQs.)
(Relief for Victims of Certain Crimes)
U Visas are for victims of certain serious crimes (like domestic violence, assault, trafficking, etc.) who have been helpful to law enforcement. If you’ve been a victim of a qualifying crime in the U.S. and cooperated with the investigation or prosecution, you might be eligible for a U Visa. This visa grants temporary status and work authorization, and can lead to a green card after three years. Note: U Visas have an annual cap and long wait times, but they offer invaluable protection. We can evaluate your case, help obtain the necessary law enforcement certification, and file a compelling application.
